Burlat Fruit: weighing 6.5-7 g, wide heart, flattened at the stalk and gently undulating. Skin purple-red, shiny, in full maturity, almost black. The flesh is dark red, very tasty. Fruit quite susceptible to cracking, good for transport. Usefulness of fruit: dessert. Techlowan Fruit: weighing 8-10 g, spherically-heart-shaped. Skin medium thick, dark, shiny. The flesh is hard, dark red with bright veins, gristly and very tasty. Fruit medium susceptible to cracking in the rain (less susceptible varieties from: Vega, Van, Büttner red), good for transport. Usefulness of fruit: dessert.
Sunburst Another variety of sweet cherry, the 'Sunburst' is a self-fertile fruit that is suitable for areas with poor pollination. It was released by the Agriculture Canade Research Station in British Columbia in 1983. A mid-season, dark colored fruit, it is a large cherry with an impressive yield and high resistance to rain cracking. Brown rot, however, can be a problem due to problems with over-setting and fruit clustering on the tree. This can affect the size and quality of the fruit. Vega Fruit: weighing 6.5-7 g, wide heart, flattened at the stalk and gently undulating. Skin purple-red, shiny, in full maturity, almost black. The flesh is dark red, very tasty. Fruit quite susceptible to cracking, good for transport. Usefulness of fruit: dessert.
Lapins Fruit: weighing approximately 8.5 g, kidney-shaped, flattened on top. Orange-peel first, then live-red, shiny. The flesh is bright red, juicy, very tasty. Fruit medium susceptible to cracking. Well for transport. Usefulness of fruit: dessert, and processors.
